Ayala Obtains $187,000 Settlement in Commercial Dispute Over Defective Sequencing Equipment

By February 15, 2023No Comments

Ayala is proud to announce that it has obtained a $187,000 settlement in a case where Ayala’s client alleged that the defendant provided defective equipment under a lease.

The case involved the lease of two “sequencing” machines. DNA sequencing is the process of determining the nucleotide order of a given DNA. The machines are issue were supposed to perform accurate sequencing.

Ayala’s client, a lab testing facility, leased the equipment from the defendant, a renown manufacturer of such equipment.

Upon delivery, Ayala’s client detected numerous defects in the equipment making it at one point unreliable and useless for its intended purpose—accurate testing.

As stated by attorney Eduardo A. Maura: “we are happy with the result. This case could have been a long road of contentious and expensive litigation. We are happy our client was able to obtain a satisfactory settlement early on so it can move on forward with its life and business; that’s alway our main objective.”
