Ayala Successfully Settles Another Illegal Towing Case in Miami This Time for $6,500

By September 12, 2022No Comments

Ayala is proud to announce that it has obtained a $6,500 settlement in an unlawful towing case.

In the case, Ayala’s client claimed that the towing company, in conjunction with the lien company, overcharged it in the towing bill by more than one thousand dollars, in violation of Miami Dade County Ordinance 30-476.

Ayala had already obtained a default judgment for $9,000 from one of the defendants in the case. However, as stated by attorney Eduardo A. Maura, “we took the settlement to avoid our client what would be a lengthy and expensive collection effort. At the end of the day our goal is to provide a valuable proposition where we obtain the most for our clients, in the least amount of time. In that sense, we believe this settlement does that.”

Gross over-charges are not uncommon in towing cases. If you believe you’ve been overcharged by a towing company, you may have a case for violation of Florida Statutes or local ordinances regulating towing.
