Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Dismisses the EB-5 Regional Centers lawsuit challenging the validity of a prior order lowering the EB-5 Investment amount.
Back in June of 2021, U.S. Federal Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley issued a ruling that lowered the necessary investment amount to qualify for an Eb-5 Visa, originating from a cost of $900,000 to a reduced amount of $500,000. The amount had been raised priorly by congress to 1,8M and 1M respectively.
The Department of Homeland Security appealed this court decision attempting to raise the amount back to its original cost.
On January 5th, 2022, the DHS dismissed its court appeal. This is positive news to individuals seeking to apply for a green card through the EB-5 Investor Visa Program. Therefore, for the time being, investors from all over the world can take advantage of the reduced cost of $500,000.
An EB-5 visa is a specialized visa that allows an individual to obtain a green card, allowing them into the United States based on making an investment in the U.S. thus creating jobs for U.S. workers.
