Federal Judge Grants Preliminary Approval of Class Action Settlement for Copa America Ticket Holders

By November 28, 2025No Comments

We are proud to announce that federal Judge Beth Bloom of the Southern District of Florida has granted preliminary approval of a class action settlement obtained by several firms, including Ayala, in a case involving the Copa America final that took place in November 2023 at the Miami Hard Rock Stadium.

The case involved an action for a breach of contract and negligence against the stadium and other defendants for failing to provide security and access to the stadium on the day of the final game. Many of the class members traveled from out of the country and paid hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars to watch this game, only to find themselves outside, unable to enter the game.

Under the settlement, class members who were denied entry to the game  (Denied Entry Class Member) are eligible for up to $2,000 per ticket, which can be comprised of ticket costs and/or $300 in travel costs.

You can find the order here.

As stated by attorney Eduardo A. Maura, “It’s a great result given the circumstances, the difficulty of the case, the state of the law, and the number of defendants involved in the case. Big credit goes to our lead co-counsel, Jeff Newsome from Varnell & Warwick PA, for the arduous, quality work done to obtain this settlement.”
