Ayala is proud to announce that we have filed a lawsuit against Citi in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, alleging that they are unlawfully retaining our client’s funds. The case involves a Nicaraguan businessman who has a long-standing banking relationship with Citi.
One day, our client suddenly discovered that his Citi account had been frozen, with little explanation. After numerous complaints to different Citi agents (including providing the requested documents), Citi still refused to release our client’s funds totaling $273,000.
The lawsuit alleges causes of action against Citi for the recovery of bank deposits and a declaratory judgment. As stated by attorney Eduardo A. Maura, “It is absolutely unacceptable that our client has to go through this. Whether willingly, or as a result of Citi’s almost unbreakable bureaucracy, we have to sue to recover our client’s life savings. We look forward to obtaining our client’s funds, including the fees he’s having to spend due to the bank’s unlawful actions.”
