We are proud to announce that we have been retained by a world-renowned plastic surgeon to prevent the publication of an article falsely tying death to the surgical procedure he pioneered. The case involved a long-time cosmetic surgeon from Peru who pioneered a procedure called Ribxcar, used to achieve a slimmer, more defined waistline.
A competitor pre-published a draft of an article that maliciously tied the procedure promoted by our client to the death of a patient who was having multiple other procedures. In this case, we presented evidence showing that the Peruvian Society of Plastic Surgery does not acknowledge, to date, any death associated with the procedure that our client performs.
The complaint has counts for Defamation, Libel, Invasion of Privacy, Unfair Competition, and Injunctive Relief. As stated by attorney Eduardo A. Maura, “We will do anything we can to prevent the release of this malicious article. The evidence is on our side.” surgeon surgeon surgeon
