Barbershop Ownership Dispute: Ayala Secures Full Defense Verdict for Client in Miami

By February 28, 2025March 5th, 2025No Comments

Ayala is proud to announce that it has obtained a full defense verdict in a dispute involving the ownership of a Little Havana barbershop in Miami.

The case involved allegations by the plaintiff that Ayalaโ€™s client (the defendant) had โ€œstolenโ€ his barbershop while he was in prison for two years.

The evidence, however, showed that Ayalaโ€™s client waited well after the plaintiff left prison to effect the change for the barbershop’s agreed-upon price.

Evidence at trial showed that the plaintiff regretted the transaction and was highly dissatisfied with the price for the purchase of the barbershop.

Based on this โ€œsellerโ€™s remorse,โ€ plaintiff brought baseless allegations of โ€œtheftโ€, โ€œfraud,โ€ and โ€œconversion.โ€

The jury entered a verdict for Ayalaโ€™s client on all theories.

As stated by attorney Eduardo A. Maura, โ€œWe are very happy with this result. Our client is a hard-working, small business owner, who did not deserve this. While the transaction was not perfect, it was a transaction, not theft. We are glad our client can finally put an end to this four-year ordeal.โ€
